There is no doubt that organized religion has played a major role in the formation of civilizations, past and present. Today, although millions of people embrace these religions, there seem to be incredible problems surrounding their role and their belief systems. The problems actually started when these religions began to take form. Too many wars and too much bloodshed had occured and is still occuring because of religious belief and fanaticism. How can one believe in God and love, and kill at the same time? The problem with organized religion doesnt end there. These religions do not offer explanations and rules to live by which satisfy most people and can lead society to flourish and progress. The explanations and expectations that most major organized religions provide are usually not in sync with the true needs of todays society.
This has caused major religions to lose their grip a bit, and over time, quite a few people slipped between the cracks. What happened over the years to these people? A few disillusioned people embraced atheism, some remained indifferent spiritually, while others embraced a slightly different spiritual path . This path is alternative spirituality, seeking truth on the least trodden path.
The vast majority of those who seperated themselves from the organized religious system were people who were seeking a more spiritual path, beyond dogma and tenets. They wanted a more liberal and realistic interpretation of the phenomena that spawned religion. This original group of people were the ones that discussed the Dead Sea Scrolls and forbidden gospels, making this knowledge available to those who did not have access to them through their own churches. They exposed non Jews to the kaballah. They exposed the ancient traditions of the chakra , meditation and yoga to the West. They brought reiki to cultures that never had any exposure to this tradition. They studied the Essene philosophy, ancient traditions and writings in order to teach others.
This was a wonderful step towards enlightenment. At that point in time, spirituality was stirred. People needed something – others to find God, others to seek answers to their problems. New horizons were seen for the first time. People saw that there was a whole new world out there to those who explored spirituality and mysticism. People who meditated experienced altered states of consciousness. People who read the Dead Sea Scrolls felt as if a whole new paradigm was born. Those that took up yoga became stress free and healthier. People who became aware of their chakra
, and cleansed them experienced a different reality – they became aware of cosmic energy or divine energy.
In other words, so many people became aware of the Divine, through so many different paths – each one being a unique journey, taken by an individual- on his own rate, with his own readiness, but allowing himself to actually experience hands on a whole new reality. There was an understanding that there is something amazing beyond the visible world. The human experience was born for these people. Those that were searching for Christ, found him. Those that were searching for God, found him. Those that were searching for the Creating Force, found it. Those that were searching for the Mother Goddess found her. People were emerging into a path filled with light and love. Once they were on that path, everything changed for them. Their body became a temple housing the soul. They honored the temple – taking care of what they were eating. Food became a spiritual issue. Their behavior to others reflected their stability and confidence. They were genuinely good people. And the road was now open for others to follow this path. A spiritual revolution could have emerged…and would have…
But then something happened………
